Hand Held Portable X-Ray
VDC's historical involvement with dental digital radiography is little known yet well documented. For start, Video Dental was the second vendor of Digital X-ray in North America after Trophy S.A, France, the uncontested world leader since 1988. Both the Florida and Paris offices of Video Dental Concepts started selling the Sens-A-Ray sensors as a distributor of Regam, Sweden, the second manufacturer in 1991.
For almost 3 years, VDC was the only alternative to Trophy (now Kodak) in North America until Schick (1993) and later Dexis (1995) entered this market. VDC interrupted its distribution of X-ray sensors in 1994 in view of the lack of acceptance of this new technology and large losses all early vendors of sensors sustained.
VDC eventually made a come back in 1999 with the release of QuickRay developed with Alliance SA (now Owandy) using their QuickVision software and a "universal" sensor manufactured by Thomson-CSF now e2v Company. Quickray was trademarked and also introduced to CRA in the summer of 1999 and favorably featured in the CRA newsletter dated September 1999.
Other achievements include the release of RSV Mac in 2005 which remained the only viable Mac integrated Sensor solution in this market till 2008. Many "Mac" compatible sensors have been sold to practices using either Endotrack, DentalMac and Macpractice Practice Management Software.
Finally but not least, Video Dental participated in the 2006 Digital Radiography Congress in New York 2006 along the side of larger companies like Kodak, Schick, Dexis, Sirona, Planmeca, Dent-X, and Belmomt.
