History In october 1989, Video Dental Concepts, in co-operation with Panasonic Industrual Division (NJ) and ETS Groux optical division (France), developed the first component intraoral video camera oral videoscope. Since then, VDC has been a leader in this technology and introduced many concepts. The major milestones are:
1990: Oral Videoscope with "thumb-sliding" focus - First dental endoscope with adjustable focus and quick connect.
1991: OVS camera offers quick connect portrait and intraoral lenses
1992: OVS offers mirror and perio clips
1993: Diagnostech 2000 - First computer based imaging cart featuring OVS and Regam Sens-A-Ray sensor.
1994: Introduction of Videoscope 2000 - First monocoil detachable intraoral camera with light bulb in the handpiece and processor, The Multi-Op concept with a "Docking Station" is born.
1996: Introduction of ToothPix which added detachable tips.
1997: QuickCam - In cooperation with Sopro-France, first intraoral camera with 4 lens dial settings (P, S, I, M) portrait, smile, intraoral and macro
1999: Improved QuickCam with docking station. See CRA report march 2001
1999: MiniCam - In cooperation with DBS-Japan - first LED intraoral camera at affordable prices. VDC breaks the $4,000 barrier with the camera available for $1,395
2001: QuickCamPC - In cooperation with Owandy-France - first diagnostic quality intraoral camera to fit into computer bays. First autofocus feature. See CRA report march 2001
2001: MiniCamUSB - first usb camera. VDC in house. See CRA report march 2001.
2003: DOT - first dental operatory tablet. Featured by Larry Emmott and many lectures and workshops around the country
2004: In cooperation with RF systems lab, Japan - added the macro capability for their einstein camera and other features making it the first reliable wireless intraoral camera.
2007-2008: DiscoveryCam and DiscoveryCam Plus - continuing the evolution of the wireless intraoral camera.
2008: DiscoveryCam Plus - New generation of usb intraoral cameras under $1,000 with both windows and mac capability.
2009: Toothpix Palm - First all-in-one self-contained intraoral camera system for convenient patient or clinical use.
2009: Diagnostix imaging2go - VDC in house. First totally wireless operatory imaging concept featuring DiscoveryCam Plus intraoral camera, and a WDS bluetooth digital sensor by Myray, Italy. Released at CDS. See video with Larry Emmott.
2009: Diagnostix x-ray2go - New portable x-ray unit, OEM from Korea with dental and vet applications. FDA pending.

QuickRay - Importer of the first single size high-resolution sensor in co-operation with Owandy, France.
RSVMac - Importer of DX-ray sensor solution for the Mac market in co-operation with Visiodent, France.
Retropan - First high-resolution digital conversion kit fitting multiple panoramic machines: Siemens OP-10, Soredex Cranex, Panoramic PC-1000, Belmont X-Caliber, Gendex SD2, 9000 and 9200, Instrumentarium OP100, Sirona Orthophos 3.

2001: QuickCamPC - VDC exclusive
First CompuCam fitting computer bays. High end, top rated by CRA report, march 2001.
2002: DOT Tablet - VDC exclusive
Presented by Dr. Larry Emmott (Emmott on technology). Smart displays are not computers. It is a mobile monitor and input device. The computer is static, but the user can move around and is not bound to a desk by a wired monitor, keyboard and mouse. Wireless 802.11 connections made this possible.
